Training and Development

Shakey’s® has a tradition of developing and promoting employees through their many years of creating the Shakey’s® Experience.  We continually evaluate our employees’ skills and talents and create development plans to help them grow personally and professionally.

Here’s a sampling of some of our programs:

Team Member Position Certification

Team Members are trained, tested and certified in various or all Team Member jobs:  Dishwasher, Dough Maker, Cook, Pizza Cook, GSL, Dining Room Attendant, Food Runner and Game Room Attendant.

Sed de Saber™

Sed de Saber™ (Thirst for Knowledge) was developed by Retention Education, LLC and supported by a coalition of the MultiCultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance, LeapFrog Enterprises, Coca-Cola and the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute to provide innovative educations products to the Hispanic workforce. Our investment in Sed de Saber™ was not only a good business decision, but truly opens the door for a real future of fulfillment for our many loyal employees, who might otherwise languor at entry level positions

Sed de Saber™ is an interaction program that combines the elements of story-telling, voice recording, games and review exercises in six books with a “leap frog” key pad technique and a hidden story (novella), which entices the participants to keep on reading!

Currently, Shakey's® has learning teams throughout the system who have enthusiastically embraced the competitive challenge to complete the Sed de Saber™ program. Team members work individually on the program, but most enjoyably, with family friends and colleagues to succeed at the program, while enhancing their jobs and lives.
